This is not relevant in our case as it just influences equation
numbering. But to be consistent we change it though.

fix, slides: get rid of \nonumber commands
...
We do not need the equation environment. It introduces the equation
numbering, which we then disable by `\nonumber`. We just need the
split-environment.
